Rogue by katjen Rogue by katjen
i found a pic of sarah michelle gellar from an entertainment weekly cover and i thought "oooh that's a good rogue pose!" so i thought i'd give it a shot... it kind of looks like she has no neck :)... and i got waaaaay bored with scribbling in the background (as you can tell *g*). i did a kind of study for color scheme and the costume before this (it's in my scraps) and i liked the colors a lot - i was thinking of coloring this one but i didn't want to screw it up - i remember in high school when i actually drew all the time i'd do a sketch, really like it, color it and then *hate* it, so now i'm more careful about applying the colored pencils... but i dunno... maybe i'll get bored *g*.

Hey, I have the cover of ETW that you spoke of!!! That is a great cover to photo-ref!!! I really like your rendering style, it's very sleek! I also like how you rendered Rogue's hair! I personally don't think that there is enough great pencil art out there in DA, so it's really nice to see some great work! Well done! :)

Yeah, I know what you mean... a lot of the time the spontenaeity of sketches make them look better, imho. I've botched up so many painting jobs it makes me wanna weep. That's probably why colouring in computer feels so much safer. :p
I think the neck looks fine - natural anyway. I guess realy human necks are mostly like that, and it looks fine from the angle her heads at, so no prob. You're good with faces, I must say. And you're right about it being a good Rogue pose... It looks like it could be her on the front cover of one of her issues. ;)

I love her face! It's so innocent and mysterious, and the hair is lovely. I love the way you draw hair.

Hey, this is good. Nice pose, nice costume design. I saw the colour scheme in scraps, and I like that idea. I like the leather strips around her arms. I might suggest putting an X belt buckle on her belt, and maybe yellow cuffs on the top of her gloves, or maybe two yellow stripes down either side of the zipper on her uniform, to contrast the green? It also kinda is giving a suggestion of the uniform the comic Rogue was most known for. It's kinda nice to have that sort of anchorage.

She's got big, soulful eyes. I like that. Very nice. She looks a little young though.

Hot damn! I love the way you do hair!
